The IRCC believes that having advanced technologies such as High Performance Computing (HPC), storage for big data and private cloud environments are no longer a luxury delegated to the few, but are now a fundamental requirement to keep FIU competitive as a top-tier research institution. By exposing our students to these technologies, they will be prepared for the top scientific and engineering jobs in their field.
Our mission is to:
- Support FIU’s goal of being a top-tier research institution
- Create a large computational computing environment by pooling available campus resources into one large shared system
- Provide excellent support and training to both faculty and students
- Promote the use of research computing and cloud technologies in the classroom
