Funding

The goal of the Instructional Research Computing Center (IRCC) is to provide access to its resources to all FIU faculty and students; therefore, a limited amount of resources are provided at no cost. It is important for faculty, chairs, and deans who need more resources than are freely available to reserve a budget from their start-up funds, grants, or other funding sources. Additional computing resources will be given to those who contribute funding to the center.

With multi-party funding, the total amount of shared resources will increase for all investors, giving each faculty member and department more purchasing power than they would otherwise have alone. These joint efforts will help ensure the long-term viability of the center for many years to come.

It is important to note that professionally-managed shared computational resources within a centralized facility are looked at favorably by many funding agencies. Incorporating budgets for IRCC computing resources into your research proposals will increase the likelihood of a successful proposal. The IRCC will gladly work with faculty on incorporating IRCC budgets into their research projects.
